Catfish Reverse Image Search: Check a Profile in 5 Steps

Short answer

To check whether someone is catfishing you, reverse-search their photos in two or three engines (Google Lens, Yandex, TinEye). If the same pictures appear under other names, on stock sites or on a model's public profile, the account is almost certainly fake. A face-search tool or Social Catfish can go further when a simple search finds nothing.

Step by step

  1. Save two or three of their photos. Use the ones that look most like selfies.
  2. Run a free image search. Try Google Lens, then Yandex Images and TinEye. Each finds different matches.
  3. Look at where the matches are. The same face on a different name, a model's portfolio, an adult performer's page or a stock-photo site is a red flag.

Red flags beyond the photos

  • They refuse video calls, or the camera is always "broken".
  • They move you quickly off the app to private messaging.
  • They ask for money, gift cards, crypto or help with an emergency.
  • Their photos look professionally shot, but their messages feel scripted.

If your own photos are being used
