CooMeet Review: Is It Legit, What It Costs and How to Cancel

Is CooMeet legit?

It is a real, operating business with published terms, but its reputation with paying users is poor. CooMeet's User Agreement names the company you contract with as Gartwell Limited, registration number 110671, with a registered office in Belize City, Belize. It says disputes fall under Cyprus law and Cyprus courts. Payments are processed by DSM Cyprus Services Ltd (Nicosia) and Comewel Limited (York, England). UK Companies House lists Comewel Limited (company 09461464) as active, incorporated in 2015.

One automated site checker gives coomeet.com a very low score and says it "may be a scam". That is an algorithmic rating, not an investigation. We found no official finding that CooMeet is a scam. What the evidence does show is a large number of complaints about recurring charges and refunds, so read the billing sections below before you pay.

How much does CooMeet cost?

Premium plans start at $2.97 for a 3-day trial, and extra minutes cost $0.50 each. These are the packages listed in section 6.7 of the User Agreement. All payments are in US dollars and converted at your bank's rate. VAT may be added in some countries, and CooMeet says the terms of payment can change "at any time without prior warning".

CooMeet says the $1.99 plan is "available from time to time to a limited number of accounts only". The price you see at checkout is the one that applies, so compare it with this table before you enter card details.

Is CooMeet free?

Only on a limited trial. CooMeet's FAQ says you can chat for free "but with restrictions", and its terms describe a free trial version for new users. Free minutes are occasional promotions. CooMeet says you can sometimes receive minutes for registering and confirming your email, and Premium plans include 10 to 100 bonus minutes. CooMeet does not publish how long the free trial lasts. To keep talking after it ends, you need to buy Premium or minutes.

How do CooMeet billing and auto-renewal work?

Treat any CooMeet plan as recurring until your account shows otherwise. CooMeet's FAQ explains how to "stop automatic monthly payments". Its User Agreement mentions automatic renewal explicitly only for the $1.99 offer. We could not see the checkout, so we cannot confirm which other plans renew. Check your account's Personal details after paying.

On your bank statement, charges appear under the payment processor's name, not CooMeet's. Comewel's FAQ gives the descriptor as CL*comewel.com>Comewel LTD GB. If you see that line and don't recognise it, it is a CooMeet charge, made either by you or by someone using your card. After you cancel, CooMeet's terms say Premium "will be active until the end of the paid period".

How do you cancel a CooMeet subscription?

Turn off automatic renewal in your account's Personal details. These are the steps from CooMeet's own FAQ:

1. Log in at coomeet.com and click your profile photo in the upper right corner.
2. Click the gear icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Open Personal details.
4. Click the three dots on the right and cancel the automatic renewal of your subscription.
5. Take a screenshot showing that renewal is off, and keep the email address and date.

If you can't find the option, contact CooMeet support at support@coomeet.com or through the Messages tab in the app. Its Google Play developer replies tell users to email support or use the in-app support chat to check whether a subscription is active. You can also use the "I want to cancel my purchase and get a refund" form on Comewel's support desk.

Deleting your account is not the same as cancelling. CooMeet's FAQ says a deleted account is "automatically restored" if you log in again within 6 months. Turn off renewal first, then use Close my account in Personal details if you want to leave for good. You can remove a saved card with the "X" next to it on CooMeet's payment page.

Can you get a refund from CooMeet?

Only for minutes you have not spent, according to CooMeet's terms. Section 8.3 of the User Agreement says unspent minutes "can be converted back into the money and refunded to the bank card or to the electronic wallet from which the purchase was originally made". Spent minutes and bonus minutes cannot be refunded. Comewel's site advertises a "100% money back guarantee", but the User Agreement's narrower rules are the ones CooMeet applies.

To ask for a refund or report a charge you don't recognise:

1. Open comewel.com/contact and choose "I want to cancel my purchase and get a refund" or "I found an unexpected transaction on my statement".
2. Enter the email and account ID you use for CooMeet, the first 6 and last 4 digits of your card (never the full number), the debit date and the amount in USD.
3. Attach a screenshot of the statement line. Comewel says it replies within 24 hours and only in English.
4. Keep the enquiry number it emails you. If you don't receive it, check your spam folder.

CooMeet's terms ask you to contact it before you go to your bank. If CooMeet accepts the claim, the refund "may take up to 20 business days". If it rejects the claim, the terms say you can contact your card issuer. In the US, the FTC says a billing-error dispute should reach your card issuer in writing within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Comewel warns that chargebacks for purchases you actually made can get you blacklisted with its processor, so use a dispute only when the charge is wrong or unauthorised.

Are the women on CooMeet really verified?

CooMeet says so. CamChief could not confirm it. CooMeet's homepage claims "700+ thousand Verified accounts" and "verified users". Its cam chat page says its gender filter "never makes mistakes, and connects men in live mode only with girls", and that "you won't find" fakes, bots or advertising accounts. These are CooMeet's marketing claims. We did not use the service and found no independent audit of them.

The rules CooMeet publishes do describe checks. Its User Agreement says women register "Girl" accounts and "are to provide their passport details". An avatar photo is taken automatically at sign-up. CooMeet also says it uses automatic face recognition to block underage users, and that moderators may join a chat and ask you to repeat a gesture to catch pre-recorded video. The Chat Rules require your face to be clearly visible, but they add that "face visibility is optional with an active Premium account". Paying men can therefore stay off camera while the women they meet must show their faces.

Is CooMeet safe? Sextortion, recording and privacy

The main risk is the person on the other camera, not the billing. The top result for "is CooMeet legit" is a sextortion-support forum thread, and several videos in the results are about sextortion on CooMeet. Sextortion is a threat to share intimate images or video unless you pay. The FTC reported in 2023 that sextortion reports had "increased more than eightfold since 2019", and that people aged 18 to 29 were over six times as likely to report it as people 30 and over.

What CooMeet's own terms say:

• Adult content: the Chat Rules allow nudity "only in areas accessible after successful age verification", and CooMeet's UK age-assurance page says the platform "contains 18+ live video interactions". Its older User Agreement text still tells users not to appear nude on camera. The documents conflict, so assume you may see nudity.
• Recording: CooMeet reserves the right to record chats, "including saving correspondence and audio records, as well as taking screenshots of video broadcasts". Its privacy policy says its system "may also randomly take screenshots" of your chats.
• Users may not record you: the terms forbid users from recording other users' chats. Nothing technical stops someone from filming their screen.
• No moving off-platform: users may not share phone numbers, messenger accounts or social media, and may not ask for payment outside the app, "by PayPal, cryptocurrency, etc."
• Age: users must be 18 or older and of legal age where they live. UK users face facial age estimation or a passport and selfie video check.
• Reports: use the Abuse or Report button, or email warning@coomeet.com. CooMeet says illegal or non-consensual content is removed within 24 hours and other complaints are handled within 7 days.

CamChief's advice for any random video chat:

• Keep your face and anything identifying (your room, your name, your social media) out of anything intimate.
• Treat a request to move to Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram or Telegram as a warning sign. CooMeet's own rules ban it.
• If someone threatens you, don't pay and don't negotiate. Stop replying, screenshot the threat and the account, and report it to the platform.
• In the US, report extortion to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and fraud to ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
• Adults can use StopNCII.org to help stop intimate images being shared on participating platforms. If the images were taken when you were under 18, use NCMEC's Take It Down.

Who is CooMeet for?

It suits men who want quick one-to-one video chats with women and accept paying by the minute. It suits them best if they are careful with billing settings and with what they show on camera. It is a poor fit if you want free chat or won't check that renewal is off. If you want to watch performers rather than talk to strangers, a cam site with published show prices may suit you better. CooMeet is 18+ only.
